About Us

We are delighted to have this opportunity to introduce you to our stud, based

in Chieveley, a peaceful part of the English countryside, near Newbury in Berkshire.

We established Snelsmore Shetland Pony Stud in 1993, adding to our already busy life of breaking and competing horses.

Originally starting as pets for our two children, we gradually progressed further to where we are today; owning around 65 ponies of excellent pedigree on our well-maintained stud.

Our aim is to produce top quality ponies with correct conformation and movement, and our vast experience in horses has stood us in good stead for knowing what is required to breed a first class pony.

What's New?

- Breed Show Results

The time of year to show off the best stud ponies at one of the most prestigious shows of the season, has yet again come and gone. Taking with us 7 ponies (six home-bred), we were thrilled with the outstanding results awarded to them all. However, for us, Snelsmore Calipso simply stole the show, bringing home a 1st in the Miniature Stallion Class, Reserve Miniature Champion, Overall Champion Stallion and Overall Champion Broken Coloured Pony; A tremendous result.

As well as every pony receiving at least 3rd place, Snelsmore Drambuie continued her fantastic showing season, impressing the judges enough to bring home 1st in the Yeld Mare Class.

- 2008 Foals

As another foaling season passes by, we are pleased to announce that all of our 2008 foals have now been born. Pictures of the last few newborns will be added soon so keep checking back for updates!

- Animal Health Trust Charity Auction

Cliff and I were pleased to be involved in a Gala evening on 3rd July at Newbury Race Course, in aid of the Animal Health Trust. Several fantastic items were auctioned, one being our 2yr old gelding Snelsmore Jericho; he raised a fantastic £2600.

The evening was beautifully organized and we were asked if Jericho, on his entrance into the marquee, could bow while I curtsied to the Princess Royal and then walk and trot among the tables, which he did brilliantly; I think it's a fantastic demonstration of these little pony's temperaments. There was a tremendous atmosphere with lights, music and cheering; all for a great cause. Thanks to this wonderful opportunity, Jericho has found himself a beautiful home for life.
